Thousands bid farewell to violinist Balabhaskar

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 03: Thousands bid tearful farewell to violinist Balabhaskar during his last journey to the crematorium at Santhikavadam in Trivandrum on Wednesday. His body was cremated with state honours in the presence of his friends, singers and film personalities who thronged at the venue to get a last glimpse of their beloved singer.

After the last rites at home, his body was carried to the crematorium. His friends kept a model of his dearest instrument of violin along with the body of the violinist and which brought tears to the onlookers.

On Tuesday, after post-mortem examination at Medical College Hospital, the body was taken to University College, his alma mater, for the public to pay homage.

In the evening, it was shifted to Kalabhavan Theatres, where his friends from music fraternity played live music as a tribute. The body was later taken to his residence in Thirumala.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, ministers Thomas Issac, KT Jaleel, E Chandrasekharan, Kadakampally Surendran, Mayor VK Prasanth, Suresh Gopi MP, MLAs VS Sivakumar, K Muraleedharan, CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran and KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran were among those who paid last tributes.
