Amitabh received 1st national award from Karunanidhi

New Delhi, Aug 08: Bollywood's megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Wednesday revealed that he had received his first national award from DMK Chief M Karunanidhi.

This little known facet of Bachchan's glorious career spanning more than four decades came to light when he himself tweeted about it.

'For the Honourable and dynamic leader Shri Karunanidhi .. I received my very 1st National Award for 'Saat Hindustani' from him, when the ceremony was held in Chennai that year .. he was the CM,' Bachchan said in a tweet.

'Saat Hindustani' was a 1969 Indian film, written and directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas.

The film portrayed the heroic story of seven Indians who attempt to liberate Goa from the Portuguese colonial rule.

The cast included Madhu, Utpal Dutt, Shehnaz, A K Hangal, Anwar Ali (brother of Indian comedian Mehmood) and Amitabh Bachchan who made his debut with this film. (UNI)
