Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar took to social media to introduce the pivotal characters of his upcoming next 'Gold'.

Introducing the pivotal characters of the intriguing storyline of Gold', Akshay Kumar gave an insight into Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Sunny Kaushal and Vineet Singh. While Mouni Roy will be seen playing Akshay's wife in the film, Kunal Kapoor plays the coach and Amit Sadh, Sunny Kaushal and Vineet Singh are seen as hockey players, while the team manager is played by Akshay Kumar aka Tapan Das.

Akshay Kumar took to Twitter to introduce the onscreen character of debutant Mouni Roy, he wrote, "Meet Mrs Monobina Das, my wife."

Sharing insights into the bond he shares with the coach, Kunal Kapoor, Akshay tweeted, "A brother, a friend and the coach of the dream team. Meet Samrat."

Further highlighting the key attributes of his player Amit Sadh, Akshay shared, "When he starts playing, the opposition becomes the spectator. Meet Raghubir Pratap Singh."

Speaking about the leadership of the golden team, Akshay introduced Vineet Singh's character as, "A true leader and a great player. Meet Imtiaz." Introducing Sunny Kaushal, Akshay wrote, "Iske sirf naam mein hi nahi, game mein bhi bohot Himmat hain! Meet Himmat Singh."

The high on patriotism story of 'Gold' has struck a chord with the audience, with the trailer breaking the internet upon its release. Within minutes since its launch, 'HEROIC GOLD TRAILER' began trending on social media.

Excel Entertainment's 'Gold' showcases the dream of Tapan Das played by Akshay Kumar, who wishes to win India’s first gold medal in hockey as an independent nation. He coaches the team for the 1948 Olympics in London, inspiring the athletes to make a mark against the British on their own turf. Subsequently, India won the gold medal on August 12, 1948.

Earlier, The makers of the upcoming Akshay Kumar starrer 'Gold' opted for a unique promotional strategy as they released a special unit in the theaters on Friday. The short video requesting the patrons to stand up for the national anthem of Britain took everyone by surprise.

The film has been shot across the UK and India, capturing the fascinating aspects of the pre-independent era. ‘Gold’ not only marks the first ever association between Akshay and Excel Entertainment led by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar but also is the debut of TV sensation Mouni Roy.

Starring Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh and Sunny Kaushal, Gold promises power packed performances by an ensemble cast. Excitement builds up as Tapan Das helps the team win India's first Gold on August 12, 1948. Uniting the nation with one dream, the trailer captures the patriotic sense of the film, hailing it to be the perfect Independence day release.

Makers of 'Gold' have planned a special event with a grand set up in sync with the story of the film. Akshay has come back to the city from US for this event and will be joined by the entire star cast comprising of Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Singh and Sunny Kaushal.
