With the fast pace of the web series and digital shows streaming across the world, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor will also soon produce a Netflix original series for India, trade sources said on Saturday. As the line between the Cinema and the digital space is getting blurred, more and more Bollywood stars are joining hands with digital production.
'The streaming giant Netflix is making a series based on the book 'Selection Day' and Anil Kapoor will be producing the show,' sources said.
'In addition, the actor reportedly has been booked for a Netflix series and will star in it. The series will be helmed by 'The Last King of Scotland' director, Kevin MacDonald,' sources said.
Last year, actor Saif Ali Khan became the first mainstream actor to star in a Netflix show 'Sacred Games' which will be streaming this year. Shah Rukh Khan is also producing his web series with Netflix India whereas Karan Johar’s Dharma Production has reportedly locked in a deal with Netflix for a female-centric show.
Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor is shooting for the Salman Khan starrer 'Race 3'. Besides, Anil will be seen in 'Fanne Khan' with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao. In the last year Saif Ali Khan was the first mainstream actor to star in a Netflix show ‘Sacred Games’ which will be streaming this year. Shah Rukh Khan has also cooperated with a web series with Netflix and it is under production whereas Karan Johar’s production company Dharma Production has reportedly inked a deal with Netflix for a show.
