Parvathy, Indrans bag top honours at Kerala state film awards


Film actor Indrans has been adjudged as the best actor award in the 2017 Kerala State Film Awards while Parvathy bagged the best actress award, Culture Minister AK Balan announced on Thursday.
Indrans got the award for his performance in the film Alorukkam and Parvathy was chosen for the movie Take Off. The award consists of a cash award of Rs one lakh, citation, and statue.

Lijo Jose Pallissery bagged the best director award for his film Ee Ma Yau. This is the second award for the Parvathy, who won the best actress award in 2015 for her acting in films Charlie and Ennu Ninte Moideen. In the best feature film category, Ottamuri Velicham directed by Rahul G Nair bagged the prize. 'Ethan,' directed by Sanju Surendran got the second best film award. Mahesh Narayan has been adjudged as the best debut director for his film Take Off. Rakshadhikari Baiju, directed by Pramod won the best popular film award.

Veteran music director M K Arjunan (Arjunan Master), has been selected as best music director for all his songs in the film Bhayanakam, directed by Jayaraj. Gopi Sundar won the award for the best background score for the film Take Off. Shahbas Aman was selected as the best male playback singer(Mayanadi) and in the female category, the award went to singer Sithara Krishna Kumar(Vimaanam).
The awards for the best character(male) went to Alancier (Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum) and the best character(female) for Pauly Valsan ('Ee Ma Yau, Ottamuri Velicham). Aedan bagged the second best movie award.

The Minister said 110 movies including six children's films came before the jury consisting of those like Dr Biju, T V Chandran, Cherian Kalpakavadi and Dr M Rajeev Kumar. Out of 110, 58 films were of new directors and one was of a woman, he added.
