In an industry, where to keep your charm fresh after the debut film itself is a challenge, she is the evergreen heroine. In Hindi cinema where charm ,looks and talents are keenly watched it requires extraordinary talent and greater dedication to acting. Sreedevi has not only finished as an actor of greater talent in many well remembered films,she has made a wonderful come back too with the role of a very stylish mother in English Vinglish.Now she is enacting the role of a mother in Mom. With it ,she also completes her 50 years in cinema. A long journey for a female lead, unheard of in a male dominated Hindi cinema.

Born in 1963, the actress started her career in the year 1967 as a child artist in South Indian movies. After her initial stint as a child artist in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies, she made her debut into Hindi movies with the super hit Julie in 1975, where she acted as the heroine Lakshmi’s younger sister. The actress played her first adult role at the tender age of 13 in the Tamil film Moondru Mudichu. Soon she established herself as one of the leading actresses of the South acting in both Tamil and Telugu. In Bollywood her lead debut was in 1978 in Solwa Saal and then followed a string of commercial successes by which she set her foot here firmly. There was no stopping her. Himmatwala, Tohfa, Mr.India and Chandini to name a few,were all hits. An accomplished dancer and talented artist, Sridevi rose to the top. In her career she has won 5 Filmfare awards and acted in more than 300 films.

The actress took a brief hiatus after her movie Judaai in 1997 and returned to mini screen with the TV series Malini Iyer. She was also a judge for the TV show Kaboom in 2005

Sridevi’s return to Bollywood after 15 years was keenly awaited by her fans. She didn’t disappoint-she came up with yet another sterling performance in Gauri Shinde’s English Vinglish as a hapless housewife.A natural actor, she slipped into her role with ease and thrilled audiences with her stellar show. She was back in the game. When asked about her excelling in the comeback role, she answered with a shy smile that she approaches every role as if it were her first and this helps her to give her best. She is the only actress in Bollywood who has had a good comeback after a long hiatus.

Sridevi is currently on a promotional spree for her upcoming film Mom which is to release on July 7,2017.Her costars are Nawazuddin Siddique and Akshaye Khanna. Often spotted accompanying Sridevi is her daughter Jhanvi who is all set to make her Bollywood debut. It is believed that she will star in a Karan Johar film soon.Young and pretty looking Jhanvi has inherited her mother’s good looks. Sridevi’s advice to her daughter is that ‘success and failure are things you have to take in and accept very gracefully’. Sound advice from an experienced star mother. Jhanvi is already the media’s favourite star kid with her great lineage and modern fashion style

To mark Sridevi’s completion of 50 years, husband and producer Boney Kapoor has fixed the launch date of her movie MOM on July 7. It was the day she first walked into a film set, according to sources. To celebrate the occasion, Boney Kapoor is hosting a grand party where other prominent film personalities and her co-star will be present.
