8th Jagran Film Festival honours Shabana Azmi, Praveen Bhatt

Veteran actor Shabana Azmi was honoured with the ‘Icon of the Indian Cinema’ award while cinematographer Praveen Bhatt was honoured with ‘Special contributions to the Cinematic Art’ at the eighth edition of the Jagran film festival.

The acting power-house Nawazuddin Siddiqui was honoured with the title of ‘Rajnigandha Achievers Award’ at the closing ceremony of the film festival while Irrfan Khan won the Best Actor (Male) for his special on screen humour in ‘Hindi Medium’. Actor Swara Bhaskar won the Best Actor Female for her bold screen avatar in ‘Anarkali of Aarah’ while Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury bagged the Best Director award and her female-lead trio won the Best Actor Female- Special Jury Award for 'Pink'. 'Jolly LLB-2' was declared the ‘Best Feature Film’ for mass viewership entertainment while the Best Music Director award was bagegd by Rohit Sharma for ‘Anarkali of Aarah’ and the award for Best Background Score went to Ram Sampath for ‘Raees’. The Best Debut Director award went to Shubhashish Bhutiani, ‘Mukti Bhawan’ and Avinash Das for ‘Anarkali of Aarah’ while the Best Supporting Actor Female was bagegd by Seema Pahwa for ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ Actor Adil Hussain and Dhruva Padmakumar won the awards for Best Actor - Male - Special Mention for ‘Mukti Bhawan’ and ‘A Billion Colour Story’ while the award for Best Lyrics wernt to Tanveer Ghazi for ‘Pink’ The award for Best Cinematography was won by K U Mohanan for ‘Raees’ while the award for Best Foreign Feature Film wen to ‘Golden Five’ .
