Award-winning star Priyamani to wed businessman


Leading south Indian film star Priyamani(33) is getting married in Bengaluru on Aug 23. She is marrying her long-time friend and businessman Mustafa Raju to whom she got engaged in May last year.

Born Priyamani Vasudev Mani Iyer on June 4, 1984, in Bengaluru, she started as a model before getting into movies and has acted in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu films.

Introduced to Tamil films by director Bharathi Raja in “Kangalil kathal sei”, Priyamani won national award as well Filmfare award for her role as a village girl in the film “Paruthi Veeran”. She also won an award for he role in the Malayalam movie Thirakkatha.

In 2003, she debuted in the Telugu film Evare Atagaadu (2003), a box-office flop. After an award-winning performance in Paruthi Veeran” in 2007, she achieved commercial success in Telugu cinema with S. S. Rajamouli directed Yamadonga. She made her Kannada film debut in Raam which proved to be a commercial and critical success. Priyamani made her Hindi film debut through Mani Ratnam's bilingual in Tamil and Hindi, titled Raavan and Raavanan respectively.

In 2012, her portrayal of conjoined twins in the multilingual film Chaarulatha, based on the Thai language film Alone, gained critical praise and won her a third Filmfare award.The wedding reception of Priyamani and Mustafa Raju on Aug 24 is expected to be attended by several prominent film personalities.
