Kanpur, Jul 7 : IIT Kanpur has been identified as nodal centre for conducting Smart India Hackathon on behalf of MHRD Innovation Cell, which will commence from Monday.
This is a flagship event for both AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development).
The event is open to engineering college students across the country.
The students are given challenging problems offered by different ministries and MSME companies.
IIT (K) officials here on Sunday said based on the problems the student teams have developed proof of the concept, which was evaluated by field experts and finally they are shortlisted from 6000 entries to 190. These teams are divided theme-wise and sent to different nodal centers.
"The basic idea is to convert a proof of concept idea to a scalable product. The students will work continuously for five days along with design and product mentors identified by AICTE & MHRD.
The event will commence from July 8 morning and will continue till July 12 noon.
The Officials said the venue for the event is L-20 and all the fabrication will be carried out at Imagineering lab, IIT Kanpur.
