Bengaluru, Jan 24: The Karnataka Information Commission has organised a day-long Workshop on Adjudication Process under the Right to Information Act here on February 2, Chief Information Commissioner L Krishna Murthy said.
The workshop will be inaugurated by Supreme Court Judge Justice S Abdul Nazeer. Acting Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Justice L Narayana Swamy will preside over the Workshop in which many dignitaries including Supreme Court Judge Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and High Court Judge Justice Dixit Krishna Shripad are expected to participate, according to a press release here on Thursday.
Highlights of the Workshop includes release of a Handbook on Right to Information Act, Belakinedege (Towards Light) containing the Act and Rules besides the latest judgments of Supreme Court and High Courts on the subject, besides, launch of a RTI Online Portal.
A Session on Discretionary Powers of Information Commissioners under the Right to Information Act – 2005, will be held and it will be Chaired by National Law Institute University, Bhopal, Vice Chancellor Dr V Vijaya Kumar. Justice Dixit Krishna Shripad will deliver key note address.
Former Acting Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission,Justice Shivaraj Patil will be the Chief Guest in the second session on Right to Information Act as a tool for realizing fundamental rights and importance of Right to Information, at which the former Central Information Commissioner Dr M Sridhar Acharyulu, who is also the Professor of Law at the Benette University, will deliver the key note address.
