Mumbai, Jun 1 : The BSE Sensex on Monday rallied by 661 pts at 33,085 in opening trade tracking positive global cues. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too rose by 171 pts to 9,752.15. The sectoral indices like FMCG, Health Care, IT, Telecom and Bankex kept the rally intact for the fourth session today. The Sensex registered intraday highs and low at 33,085.43 and 32,876.55 pts, respectively. The Nifty registered intraday high and low at 9752.80 and 9706.95 pts, respectively.
The midcap was up by 1.62 pc and small-cap by 1.82 pc. All 30 scrips advanced. The gainers were Axis Bank by 4.51 pc to Rs 400.50, IndusInd Bank by 4.28 pc to Rs 410.15, Bajaj Finance by 3.70 pc to Rs 2026.60, HDFC by 3.21 pc to Rs 1712.60 and ONGC by 3.13 pc to Rs 85.80. India's economic growth fell to a 17-year low of 3.1 per cent in the fourth quarter of FY20, which pulled down the GDP growth for the entire 2019-20 to an 11-year low of 4.2 per cent.
Besides, market participants will today also track the auto sales for the month of May as well as the PMI manufacturing data for May. As many as 12 companies, including V-Guard Industries and Orient Electric, are scheduled to announce their March quarter results. Asian Market rose today MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan edged up 0.2 per cent, as did Japan's Nikkei. In commodity markets, Brent crude futures were off 0.55 per cent at $37.63 a barrel. (UNI)
