Mumbai, May 26 : The BSE sensex on Tuesday rallied by 414 pts to 31,086.70 in opening trade on fresh buying in FMCG, Finance, Bankex and Capital Goods stocks. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too jumped by 122 pts to 9161.65. The sectoral indices like FMCG, Finance, Bankex and Capital Goods stocks pushed the market. The Mid cap rose by 1.13 pc and Small by 0.63 pc. Of 30 scrips, 27 advanced while 3 declined. The gainers were Titan by 3.86 pc to Rs by 882.20, IndusInd Bank by 3.56 pc to Rs 350.25, ITC by 3.54 pc to Rs 192.95, Tata Steel by 3.12 pc to Rs 283 and HDFC Bank by 3.02 pc to Rs 864.20.
The losers were Bharti Airtel by 3.47 pc to Rs 572.45, TCS by 1.33 pc to Rs 1992.05 and Hero Corp by 0.78 pc to Rs 2135. Among others, HDFC shot up 2 per cent after reporting its March quarter results yesterday. Bharti Airtel, on the other hand, declined 4 per cent on reports that its promoter Bharti Telecom was planning to raise $1 billion by selling a small stake in the telecom giant through block deals on the stock exchanges today.
