New Delhi, Feb 11: Congress Member Selja on Tuesday told the Rajya Sabha that the incumbent BJP Government in Haryana has ruined its economy and sadly, the annual Budget 2020 too offers nothing to bail out the debt-ridden state.

Participating in the debate on the Budget, she said that Haryana is passing through a great financial stress. Till 2014, the fiscal deficit was Rs 66,000 crore but now, the total debt on the state has reached around two lakh crore. 'The state also has to bear a loss of Rs three to four thousand crore owing to the Goods and Service Tax(GST)”, she added. Referring to the long pending issue of Sutlej Yamuna link (SYL), the Congress lawmaker alleged that despite the Supreme Court asking the Centre to mediate and settle it, neither Union or the state government has taken any step to resolve the issue with the neighbouring Punjab.

'I doubt whether Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal has ever sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss this important issue', Ms Selja said. She also accused the Centre of ignoring Haryana in the Budget 2020 and cited an example of how the state has been neglected in terms of allocation saying that of the Rs 38 lakh crore for Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna, Haryana got only Rs 36 lakh.
