Mumbai, Jan 9: The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday jumped 545.78 points to 41,363.52 after the US offered to embrace peace with the Iranian leadership in a bid to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 157.10 points to 12,182.45. The Sensex registered intraday high and low at 41,374.11 and 41,175.72 points respectively. The Nifty recorded intra-day high and low at 12,188.60 and 12,13.55 points respectively. The sectoral indices like Materials, FMCG, Finance, Telecom, Utilities and Auto stocks pushed the market up in early trade.
The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 3.05 pc to Rs 1503.35, ICICI Bank by 2.98 pc to Rs 541.50, SBI by 2.47 pc to Rs 327.75, M & M by 2.19 pc to Rs 536.10 and Axis Bank by 2.17 pc to Rs 740.40. The losers were TCS by 1.66 pc to Rs 2217.70, HCL Tech by 0.45 pc to Rs 583, ONGC by 0.36 pc to Rs 123.05 and NTPC by 0.25 pc to Rs 119.65. UNI
