The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Sensex has moved up by 250 points to reach at 40610.
Asian markets were mostly higher today on fresh optimism over the China-US trade talks. The benchmark index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Nifty has gained 70 points to touch 11,980.
Market heavyweight RIL led the gains, rising over 1%. Other top gainers in the Sensex pack included Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel and Vedanta.
Giving the note of caution to the investors, experts predict that the markets could see profit-taking at higher levels.

China over the weekend said it would hike penalties on violations of intellectual property rights while also look at reducing the thresholds for criminal punishments of those who steal IP.
The major gainers were Bharti Airtel up 5 percent to Rs.444.90, Hindalco up by 4.5 percent to Rs.198, Bharti Infratel up by 3.88 percent to Rs.241. The major losers were Zee down by 2.11 percent to Rs.350.55, Yes Bank down by 1.85 percent to Rs.63.60.
