Sensex jumps 200 points

The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Sensex has jumped 200 points to 40250.

The National Stock Exchange index of Nifty also marked a rise of 57 points to 11,901. Almost all indices such as Banking, IT etc marked gains on Thursday.

Around 36 stocks have touched 52-week high level. The most important stocks among them are Reliance Industries, Adani Enterprises, Akzo Nobel India, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, Bata India, Career Point, Avenue Supermarts, Gujarat Gas, Indraprastha Gas, Jump Networks, Muthoot Finance, Nestle India, NIIT Technologies and TCI Express.

The major gainers were Zee Entertainment up by 6.17 percent to Rs.249.65, Infosys up by 3.50 percent to Rs.683.70, SBI up by 4.54 percent to Rs.303.05, Tata Motors up by 2.79 percent to Rs.176.70, Gail up by 1.95 percent to Rs.136.20.

The top losers were Bharati Infratel loses by 0.98 percent to Rs.181.40, M&M down by 1.06 percent to Rs.610, Tech Mahindra down by 0.89 to Rs.747.70.(UNI)
