Mumbai, Oct 12 : The BSE Sensex spurted by 453.77 points or 1.20 pc at 38,127.08 In the week ended Friday amid positive global cues fueled by hopes of a trade deal between the US and China.
The Sensex regained the 38,000 mark. However, the secondary indices underperformed the key benchmark indices.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too gained 126.50 points or 1.13 pc at 11,301.25 the Sensex rose 453.77 points .
The BSE Mid-Cap index rose 67.20 points or 0.49 pc to settle at 13,780.99. The BSE Small-Cap index fell 36.59 points or 0.29 pc to settle at 12,772.07.
On Monday, the BSE Sensex fell 141.33 points to 37,531.98. The Nifty 50 index fell 48.35 points or 0.43% to 11,126.40.
Negative Asian cues spoiled investors' sentiment.
On Tuesday, the market remained shut for 'Dussehra' festival.
On Wednesday, the Sensex jumped 645.97 points or 1.72 pc to 38,177.95. The Nifty 50 index rose 186.90 points or 1.68 pc to 11,313.30 due to bargain hunting.
Again on Thursday, the sensex fell 297.55 points or 0.78 pc to 37,880.40. The Nifty 50 index too declined 78.75 points or 0.70 pc to 11,234.55.
On Friday, the last day of session, the Sensex bounced back by 246.68 points or 0.65 pc to 38,127.08. The Nifty 50 index rose 66.70 points or 0.59% to 11,301.25 amid positive global cues fuelled by hopes of a trade deal between the US and China.(UNI)
