Mumbai, Oct 7: The BSE Sensex on Monday moved up by 180 points to open at 37,853.00 as buying was witnessed in Telecom, FMCG and Consumer Durable stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 22 points to 11,196.20. The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 37,919.47 and 37,534.54 points respectively.
The Nifty recorded day intraday high and low at 11,233.85 and 11,117.85 points respectively. The sectoral indices like Telecom, FMCG and Consumer Durable pushed the market up in opening trade. The gainers were Yes Bank by 2.97 pc to Rs 43.40, HDFC Bank by 1.55 pc to Rs 1277.40, Kotak Bank by 1.33 per cent to Rs 1583.15 and Bharti Airtel by 1.13 per cent to Rs 343.55.
The losers were Sun Pharma by 2.28 per cent to Rs 377.10, M & M by 2.15 per cent to Rs 551.75 and ONGC by 2.01 per cent to Rs 127. UNI
