Mumbai, Oct 4: The BSE Sensex on Friday surged 237.68 points to 38,344.55 following gains in banking and financial stocks ahead of the Reserve Bank's bi-monthly policy review.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 53.05 points to 11,367.05. The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 38,403.54 and 38,258.08 points respectively.
The Nifty recorded intra-day high and low at 11,400.30 and 11,345.75 points respectively. The sectoral indices like Materials, FMCG, Industrial, Bankex, Realty Auto and Bankex stocks pushed the market up.
The gainers were ONGC by 2.73 pc to Rs 131.80, NTPC by 2.31 pc to Rs 119.45, IndusInd Bank by 2.28 pc to Rs 1285.20 and SBI by 1.73 pc to rs 259.40.
The losers were ITC by 1.57 pc to Rs 257.50, Kotak Bank by 0.62 pc to Rs 1606, HVL Tech by 0.60 pc to Rs 1071.05 and Bharti Airtel by 0.36 pc to Rs 343.65. (UNI)
