The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Sensex has fallen over 300 points in early deals on Thursday amid weakness in Asian peers.
The Sensex declined to as much as 37,957.56 , down 347.85 points from its previous close in the morning hours. The index of the National Stock Exchange, Nifty also declined as much as 102.55 points to hit 11,257.35 in the first few minutes of trade.
Losses in banking and financial services, metal and pharma stocks pulled the markets lower. Top gainers were Yes Bank up by 25 per cent to Rs.40, Zee Entertainment up by 7.98 percent to Rs.251.75, Tata Motors up by 5.51 percent to Rs.121.65, BPCL up by 5.36 percent to Rs.520 and IOC up by 2.89 percent to Rs.152.85.
Top losers were Vedanta down by 4.26 percent to Rs.144.85, Hindalco down by 3.82 percent to Rs.182.50, Coal India down by 3.55 percent to Rs.187.20, Tata Steel down by 2.67 to Rs.342.15.
