Mumbai, Oct 1 : The BSE Sensex on Tuesday recovered by 171.81 points to 38,839.14 in opening trade on fresh buying in Materials, Energy, FMCG, Industrials, Auto stocks.
Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 52.95 points to 11,527.40. The Sensex registered intraday high and low at 38,923.78 and 38,434.25 points respectively.
The Nifty recorded day intra-day high and low at 11,574.20 and 11,406.50 points respectively.
The sectoral indices like Materials, FMCG, Industrials, Auto and Bankex stocks pushed the market. The gainers were Yes Bank by 3.26 per cent to Rs 42.80, Tata Motors DVR by 2.36 per cent to Rs 54.30, M&M by 2.05 per cent to Rs 558.45, HDFC by 2.04 per cent to Rs 2,017 and Maruti Suzuki by 1.74 per cent to Rs 6,834.
The losers were IndusInd Bank by 3.86 per cent to Rs 1,328.30; Bharti Airtel by 2.14 per cent to Rs 359.40, TCS by 1.68 per cent to Rs 2,063.95 and Infosys by 0.79 per cent to Rs 798.90. (UNI)
