Mumbai, Sep 24 : The Rupee on Tuesday surged 22 paise to 70.72 in opening trade against the American currency after the US Federal Reserve cut its benchmark interest rate.
The domestic unit rallied in opening trade against the US dollar as foreign fund inflows and easing crude oil prices enthused investors. Forex traders said fresh foreign fund inflows, higher opening in domestic equities and easing crude oil prices supported the local unit.
It registered intraday high and low at 70.85 and 70.72 respectively. Rupee settled at 70.94 against the US Dollar on Monday. (UNI)
