Mumbai, Aug 30 : The Rupee on Friday surged by 40 paise to 71.40 on fresh selling of US Dollars by bankers and exporters, dealers at the Forex Market said.
The local unit rose marginally by four paise to 71.76 in early trade. Till the end of the day, it advanced by nearly 40 paise to 71.40 as compared to its last close.
The domestic unit recorded day high and low at 71.81 and 71.37 respectively. The Indian currency shot up following weak Dollar against other world currencies along with rebounding equity market, the dealer added. (UNI)
