The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Sensex has gained over 85 points at 36786 on Monday in the early hours.
The benchmark index of The National Stock Exchange(NSE), Nifty gained 14 points at 10,844.
Earlier, Sensex rallied over 662 points in opening session on Monday after the government rolled back the enhanced surcharge on foreign portfolio investors, and unveiled a slew of measures to boost the economy. But soon, the initial gains subsided after many used the opportunity to book profit.
Top gainers were HDFC soared 2.3 percent at Rs.2090, Indiabulls moved up 1.8 percent at Rs.476. Top losers were Tata Steel fell 5.49 at Rs.326 and JSW Steel lost 5.19 percent at Rs.209.
