Mumbai, Aug 26: The Rupee on Monday tumbled down by 36 paise to settle at 72.02 against the greenback on rising demand for US Dollars by bankers and importers, the dealers at the Forex Market said. The domestic unit down by 37 paise to 72.03 in opening and settled at 72.02, sliding by 36 paise from its last close. Forex trader said the local unit came under pressure after the latest escalation of the US-China trade war.
The rupee on Monday declined by 36 paise to 72.08 against the United States (US) dollar due to strong dollar demand from banks and importers amid unabated foreign fund outflows along with sliding equity market, he said. Traders said strengthening of the greenback vis-a-vis other currencies overseas, and foreign fund outflows weighed on the local unit.UNI
