Mumbai, Aug 21: The Rupee on Wednesday gained by 14 paise to 71.56 against the USD on rising demand by bankers and exporters, dealers at the Forex Market said.
The local unit advanced by 26 paise to 71.45 in opening trade, during the day it slightly declined from opening level but closed positive only at 71.56, advancing by 14 paise as compared to its last close.
The Indian currency registered day high and low at 71.60 and 71.45 respectively.
The domestic unit surged because of weak dollar against other world currencies, however sliding equity market capped from further rise, broker added. (UNI)
