New Delhi, Aug 9 : Industrial production (IIP) of India grew at 2 per cent in June, which is a three-month low.
The manufacturing grew at a mere 1.2 per cent in June 2019. The IIP growth rate stood at 3.1 per cent in May 2019 and 7 per cent in June 2018. The Quick Estimates of Index of IIP for June 2019 stood at 130.2, which is 2.0 percent higher as compared to the level in June 2018, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on Friday.
The cumulative growth for the period April-June 2019 over the corresponding period of the previous year stood at 3.6 percent.
The Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for June 2019 stood with the corresponding growth rates of 1.6 per cent, 1.2 percent and 8.2 per cent as compared to June 2018.
In terms of industries, eight out of the 23 industry groups in the manufacturing sector have shown positive growth during the month of June 2019 as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year The Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables have recorded growth of (-) 5.5 percent and 7.8 per cent respectively.(UNI)
