Mumbai, Aug 1 : The Rupee on Thursday tumbled down by 26 paise to 69.05 nearly five week low on on Thursday, on rising demand for US Dollars by bankers and importers, dealers at Forex Market said.
In opening trade the local unit tumbled down by 42 paise to 69.20. During the day it slightly improved from day low figure but ended negative only at 69.05, still down by 26 paise as compared to its last close.
The Indian currency registered day high and low at 69.20 and 69.00 respectively. The Rupee dropped because of weak dollar against other world currencies along with negative equity market, they added. (UNI)
