Shimla, Jun 30: The all India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers for May 2019 increased by two points and pegged at 314 pts.On one month, percentage change it increased by (+) 0.64 per cent between April 2019 to May 2019 when compared with the increase of (+) 0.35 percent between the corresponding months of previous year.
The maximum upward pressure in current index came from Food group contributing (+) 1.64 percentage points to the total change . At item level, Wheat Atta, Arhar Dal, Groundnut Oil, Poultry(Chicken) Milk Buffalo, Chillies green, Garlic,Ginger, Onion, Banana, Brinjal, Carrot, French Bean, Green Coriander Leaves ,Lemon, Potato, Tomato, Electricity Charges , Medicine -Allopathic are responsible for the increase in index.
However, this increase was checked by Bitter Gourd , Coconut, Lady Finger, Mango(Ripe) Parval, Tarok,Petrol putting downward pressure on the index.
The year to year Inflation based on CPI-IW stood at 8.65 p c for May 2019, as compared to 8.33 per cent for the previous year. Similarly, the Food inflation stood at (+) 5.21 p c against (+) 4.92 pc for the previous month and (+) 1.66 pc during the corresponding month of the previous year.At the centre level, Quilon reported the maximum increase of eight points followed by Warangal seven points and Godavarikhani six points . Among other five points increase was observed in six centres, four pts in six
centres, three pts in nine centres, two pts in 17 centres and one pt in 21 centres .
On the contrary, Goa recorded maximum decrease of three points followed by Ghaziabad two pts. Among others, one pts decrease was observed in four centres and ten centre indices remained stationary.The Indices of 35 centres are above All India Index and 43 centres indices are below the national average.
