Mumbai, Mar 14 : The BSE Sensex on Thursday ended on a flat note at 37,754.89, rising nominally by 2.72 points on the strength of Telecom, Bankex and Realty stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too moved up by 1.55 points to 11,343.25. Registerig a massive gains in last three sessions, the equity market remained calm during the day, as it opened higher by 88 points at 37,840.64. Till the end of the day it rallied by 155 points to 37,907.78 days high before closing at 37,754.89, up by 2.72 points from its last close. It dropped by 59 points to 37,693.69 day low.
The Nifty registered day high and low at 11,383.45 and 11,313.75 respectively. The sectoral indices like Health Care, Telecom, Bankex, Realty and Metal kept the market up.
In scrips, NTPC, IndusInd Bank, Sun Pharma and Yes Bank increased while HCL Tech, HeroMoto Corp, Tata Motors DVR and Tata Motors slipped that capped from further slid, broker informed.
The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index fell 0.26 pc. The S&P BSE Small-Cap index rose 0.09 pc. UNI
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was negative.
On the BSE, 1236 shares rose and 1480 shares fell. A total of 145 shares were unchanged.UNI
