Mumbai, Feb 4 : The Rupee on Monday heavily down by 56 paise to 71.80, a seven-week-low against the US Dollar on brisk demand for US Dollars by bankers and exporters, dealers at Forex Market said.
The domsestic unit slid by 35 paise to 71.59 in opening trade. Till the end of the session it further lost by 56 paise to end negative at 71.80, sliding by 56 paise as compared to its last close. The indian currency registered day high and low at 71.73 and 71.57 respectively, it added.
The Rupee was at 72 level on December 12, 2018. The dollar rebounded against its major crosses after the employment number released from the US came in better-than-estimates.
With this, the Indian currency has slid by 73 paise in two sessions, they added. (UNI)
