New Delhi, Jun 3 : Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) national spokesperson and MLA from Rajinder Nagar Raghav Chadha on Wednesday slammed the Central government’s Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital for giving out erroneous COVID-19 test reports, and also for delaying the results of the tests. "The whole world and India is fighting an extraordinary battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Central government along with the state governments of India are fighting this battle 24x7. Every authority is trying to contain the spread of the pandemic. In this fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals play a major role and testing of the patients is the key to stop the spread of the COVID-19 disease. World-famous epidemiologists, WHO, ICMR and other bodies have also concluded that the testing is the only way to find out the affected people,” Mr Chadha said.

He said that RML Hospital of the National Capital is one of the very famous hospitals but unfortunately this hospital has been violating the protocols and guidelines of testing laid down by the Center, Delhi government, Delhi High Court and ICMR. "As per the protocol and to maintain the certainty of the tests, the Delhi government checks the test results of the hospitals by retesting some samples time and again.

Recently the Delhi government took 30 samples from the RML hospitals which were declared to be positive by the RML and sent for re-testing. You will be surprised to know that the result of 12 samples out of 30 came negative and results for two samples were inconclusive,” he said.

“The rest was done within 24 hours after the samples were declared positive by the RML hospital. This means that there was an error of 45 percent in RML's testing. Such a huge variation in the result of the COVID 19 test is unacceptable. Think about the patients' mental state, their families, neighbours and the trauma they go through when they are found to be positive. Such false and erroneous results are highly condemnable and this exposes the negligence of the RML hospital," said Mr Chadha.

He also said that the RML hospital has violated the norms of the Delhi government, Center and Delhi HC on submitting the COVID1-19 test data within 48 hours of the testing. "Centre, Delhi government and Delhi HC have very clearly said that the COVID-19 test result should be submitted within 48 hours of the testing and preferably within 24 hours. But unfortunately, the RML hospital has completely violated these protocols.

They have submitted results after 72 hours or 6 days or 7 days or 10 days and even after 31 days. Around 281 patents got their results after three days, 210 people got their results which was after four days, 50 people got their results after seven days, four people got their results after nine days, and some reports were submitted after 31 days. Such a violation is unacceptable because this will lead to the spread of the disease because the people whose results are pending can meet many others and the disease can spread if the person is positive," said Mr Chadha. "On behalf of the AAP, I will request the Delhi government to take stringent action against the RML Hospital for giving out 45 percent erroneous COVID-19 test reports and for violating the government rules of submitting test results within 48 hours," he said.
