Delhi cop dies of COVID-19

Delhi, May 31 : An Assistant Sub Inspector with the Delhi Police lost his life to COVID-19, the police said. The cop breathed his last on Saturday evening at the hospital where he was receiving treatment for the pandemic. He was confirmed infected by the virus on Thursday and was admitted to the hospital. It was on Tuesday , when he complained of cough and fever, his test for the virus was done at the Lady Hardinge hospital. He was posted with the Crime Branch as a fingerprint expert with the mobile crime team of the central district's Kamla Market.

An Ex Army personnel, the deceased had joined Delhi Police in the year 2014. A native of Rewa Madhya Pradesh , he was currently residing at Naraina Gaon Delhi. This is another death in the Delhi Police because of the pandemic after a 31 year old constable died in the first week of the month. Police personnel who were out in the field 24 hours as frontline warriors have been vulnerable to the virus spread due to the nature of work. Several policemen have contracted the virus during the fight against it. (UNI)
