New Delhi, May 7 : Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Anil Kumar, as per the decision taken by party president Sonia Gandhi, has written to the Delhi Government Chief Secretary to take responsibility for the payment of rail tickets for all needy and migrant workers wishing to travel to their homes from the national capital. Mr Kumar, in his letter, has sought details from the Chief Secretary of the migrant workers currently in Delhi and wishing to return home and the cost of their rail tickets.
The Delhi Congress has promised to deposit the necessary amount with the Delhi Government directly, as the Congress strongly feels that it is the duty of every Indian to “standby our workers and migrant labourers, who are nation-builders and the ambassadors of India’s growth.” In this connection, Mr Kumar held a meeting of District presidents at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, and asked them to setup control rooms in their respective areas to assist the migrant workers to facilitate the arrangement of rail tickets for their journey home.
Besides Mr Kumar other who were presents DPCC vice presidents Jai Kishan and Abhishek Dutt, Congress leader in North Delhi MCD Mukesh Goel and all district presidents. (UNI)
