Kapil Mishra of the BJP on Tuesday has lost his fight against Akhilesh Pati Tripathi of the AAP in the Model Town constituency in the Delhi assembly election.
Mishra, a former AAP MLA joined the BJP in 2019 and even campaigned for the saffon party in the Lok Sabha elections. Kapil Mishra joined the BJP after a public spat with his boss Arevind Kejriwal. Mishra was one of the winnable candidates of BJP. “We need to go back to the people of Delhi. We’ll be a strong opposition. I regret not winning. We couldn’t understand people’s expectations,” Mishra said.
Mishra who had vowed to defeat the AAP, trailed for much of the counting. Earlier in the day he had said, he expected votes in his favour in the 5th and 6th rounds of counting but wasn’t very optimistic.
Mishra is one of the first people to protest against Commonwealth Games 2010 held in New Delhi and has written a book "It's Common v/s Wealth" highlighting the various scams and social and environmental concerns related with CWG 2010. Mishra is the son of former BJP councilor from Sonia Vihar, Annapurna Mishra.
