New Delhi, Nov 4 : As Delhi-NCR and most parts of North Indian cities are in the grip of hazardous pollution, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday asserted that clean air is our 'right and also our responsibility' and urged people to unite to combat pollution.

In a series of tweets in Hindi with a hashtag, 'Lets Unite Against Pollution', Ms Priyanka said, "we need to seriously think about the issue of pollution. The air in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Banares, Lucknow and many other cities is toxic".

"Our children go to school and our labourers and common people go to work in this air", she added.

Referring to the example of London, where 12,000 people died due to smog, the Congress general secretary said, "In 1952 in London 12,000 people died in a dangerous smog. The city was choked and millions of people fell ill. After such a big tragedy, the law for clean air was passed".

"Likewise, we have to do many things to improve our lives. Life insurance, workout are some of the ways. We must also make an effort against pollution. Clean air is our right and our responsibility as well", Ms Priyanka added. (UNI)
