New Delhi, Oct 17: Lt Governor Anil Baijal offers floral Chadar at the Dargah of Khwaja Bakhtiyar ‘Kaki’ at Mehrauli at the annual historic festival of “Phool Walon Ki Sair”, organised by “Anjuman-Sair-e-Gul-Faroshan” on Thursday. On this occasion, members of various communities carried the pankha and chadar in a procession to the dargah amidst religious ‘qawwalis’.
On this occasion, Mr Baijal said, “Delhi has a long tradition of peaceful co-existence and harmony and the ‘Phool Walo ki Sair’ is a symbol of this composite culture of the capital and its “Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb” and this culture of celebrating festivals of all religions must be adopted by one and all.“
The LG appreciated the office-bearers of the Anjuman Sair-e-Gul Faroshan, which organises the annual festival of Phool walon Ki Sair. ‘Phoolwalon ki Sair’ still follows the traditional format starting with fair for the local people Mehrauli, followed by the presentation of floral tributes at the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Bakhtiyar Kaki and Yogmaya Temple.(UNI)
