‘10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute’ campaign: Kejriwal inspects his home

Agency News

New Delhi, Sep 8 : On the second Sunday of the ‘10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute’ campaign launched by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to fight dengue, the CM inspected his home at 1000 hrs.

He replaced clean stagnant water from flowerpots, vases among others. The dengue mosquitoes only breed in clean water, so it is important to replace, pour out or add a layer of oil over clean water.

The chief minister said, “It is such a simple process. In just 5-10 minutes we can make sure our homes are dengue free and protect our families. In 2015 Delhi had more than 15,000 reported cases of dengue. In 2018, it was just below 3,000. The initial reports from this year are very positive. The people of Delhi have achieved this because we all came together.”

Mr Kejriwal used his Twitter account to spread awareness about the campaign.
An hour before 1000 hrs, he tagged several prominent Delhi residents and urged them to participate in the campaign.

“Today is Sunday. At 10 AM I will inspect my home for clean stagnant water to guard against dengue. I hope all of you will participate in the "10Hafte10Baje10Minute" campaign. I will also be urging a few citizens of Delhi to join in. I urge all of you to exhort people you care about. Just 10 minutes can protect us from danger,” the CM wrote.

After inspecting his home, he said, “Every 2-3 years the dengue cycle returns and there is a spike in the number of cases. But until last year we have seen an 80 per cent decrease. I am confident that if all of us regularly inspect our homes, we can not just limit the number of cases, but actually end dengue from Delhi.”

On the enthusiastic and overwhelming response that he was receiving for this initiative, he said, “I am very happy to see Delhi uniting for a cause.” He wrote in a tweet, “After all, all Delhiites are one big, happy family.”(UNI)
