Seelampur building collapse: Kejriwal announces ex-gratia

New Delhi, Sep 5: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday inspected the site of the building collapse in Seelampur and announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to kin of the deceased.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Kejriwal said, 'Inspected the site of the building collapse in Seelampur. Have ordered an immediate inquiry into the matter. A life lost can never be replaced, but Delhi govt will provide Rs 5 lakh each as support to the family of those who lost their lives, and Rs 50,000 to the injured.'

Two people were killed after a four-storey building in which construction work was going on collapsed on September 2.

An information about the building collapse was received at 2329 hrs following which six fire tenders were rushed to the spot, a senior Delhi Fire Service official had said. (UNI)
