AAP MLAs seek Ordinance for land to rebuild demolished temple

New Delhi, Aug 22: Delhi Assembly on Thursday demanded that the Centre immediately bring an Ordinance to allot land for a magnificent Ravidas Temple.

Bedlam broke loose as the ruling party members protested against the demolition of the Guru Ravidas temple in Tughlaqabad by the DDA.

Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla created ruckus as the AAP lawmakers, carrying placards, stormed the well of the House, raising slogans against the Bharatiya Janata Party over Dalit organisations’ protest on Ravidas temple demolition issue.

The House took up a discussion on the demolition of Guru Ravidas temple in Tughlaqabad area by DDA under Calling Attention (Rule-54) on the first day of the Monsoon session of the Assembly.

Resolution
Vishesh Ravi of Aam Aadmi Party sought to draw the attention of Union Minister of Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri on the 'situation arising out of the demolition of the temple.

Delhi Waqf Board chairman Amanatullah Khan  proposed that it was ready to bear the cost of reconstruction of the temple. (UNI)
