New Delhi, Aug 19 : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to all living on the low lying banks of the Yamuna to leave their homes and shift to the camps and tents set up by the government in view of the river flowing over the warning mark.

Mr Kejriwal has announced that the priority of the government for the coming two days will be focussed on evacuation and preventing lives as well as resources from the excess water in the river that is likely to affect the low lying areas. He said that the Yamuna has crossed the warning mark on Monday and by evening is likely to hit the danger mark pertaining to the 8 lakh twenty eight thousand cusecs of water released by the Hathni Kund reservoir.

The government has arranged for 2120 tents and around 53 boats are deployed for rescue and relief work. All the government agencies , state and central governments are working in close coordination for preventing people from being hit by flood conditions.

Boats are already stationed at more than 30 sensitive locations along the banks of the river, an official said. (UNI)
