New Delhi, Aug 4 : Dismissing the opposition's allegations that free power scheme by Delhi government was an election stunt, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said it was a scheme for the people's benefit, where the people's money was invested back for their good.
Taking a dig at BJP and Congress, he asked why don't BJP and Congress do these 'stunts' and further said that "the BJP and Congress are not able to understand whether to support it or to oppose it. Some of them are calling it an election stunt''.
"The parties are contesting elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, I challenge them to do a similar 'election stunt'! Why don't they take up such election stunts?
We are also providing free water to all households. We believe that water and electricity are facilities without which no person can survive,'' he said.
"With the money we are saving we are investing into schools, hospitals, making electricity and water free and making transport for women free. These are the five things that must be free to lead a dignified life," he added..
A large number of Delhi residents assembled on Sunday to felicitate Kejriwal on the Delhi Government's decision to make electricity free for consumers of 200 units or less. (UNI)
