New Delhi, Jul 28: In a fresh move keeping in mind the environment, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has set up four eco-friendly modern colour offset printing press to print the holy Guru Granth Sahib at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj sahib premises in line with the Sikh religious code.
DSGMC currently supplies Sikh religious books and literature to NRI sikhs in 50 countries around the globe. The Holy Guru Granth Sahib printed here will be made available to Sikh devotees on subsidised rates besides other things like Sikh literature inspired calendar, diaries and others will also be published in the new printing press to spread the message of Sikhism, said Sirsa.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committtee Amritsar and DSGMC Delhi are the only two bodies that have exclusive and legal rights for publication of the authentic version of the Holy Scripture and other Gurmat literature, (philosophy of the Gurus) worldwide. The SGPC controls all rights for the legal printing of the Granth Sahib which is now done in Amritsar and New Delhi.
Across the globe, the SGPC and DSGMC are the largest publishers of authentic Sikh religious books and literature, said Manjinder Singh Sirsa, President DSGMC. The new carbon neutral ,energy saving printing press set up with total cost of around eight crore rupees has optimum capacity of printing fifteen thousand pages per hour with maximum sheet size 650x940 MM which will meet the growing demand of holy book worldwide mainly among overseas Sikh devotees.
The new Press will be changed from analogue to a full digital press, from conventional to computerized print operations and from monochrome press operation to a full process quality colour printing which is capable of not only of good quality in minimum time but also high volume delivery. (UNI)
