New Delhi, Jul 2: The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved the mega water conservation project on floodplains of Yamuna.
The cabinet was chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Addressing the mediapersons, Mr Kejriwal said,'Delhi cabinet had decided to make rain water harvesting mandatory for all its Government buildings. All HoDs have been directed to install systems in buildings which don't have it and existing systems to be cleaned and kept ready before Monsoon rains.'
'Small ponds will be created on Yamuna plains to store water.The Delhi government will take lands belonging to the farmers on rent. A committee of five Government officials formed to decide rent,' he said.
'Natural water storage in River Yamuna Floodplains will be tested this Monsoon,' he added. (UNI)
