New Delhi, Jun 29 : Delhi Police Special Cell has apprehended an armed robber following an exchange of fire from the Khelgaon residential complex in Akshardham area , the police said on Saturday.The police team acted upon intel according to which the apprehended robber were planning to commit armed robberies in Delhi.

The accused, Mohammed Rehan was on bail in a dacoity case and an Arms Act case of Police Station Preet Vihar,wherein he along with four of his associates Taj, Sawez, Daud and Faisal looted 8.9 lakh and valuables on gun point from a trader of Gandhi Nagar, Delhi.

According to police, after being spotted late last night , Rehan was asked to surrender by the police team , however, he opened fire on police party , following which in return for self defense police party opened fired wherein Rehan got bullet injuries on his legs.He was then rushed to LBS hospital in PCR Van, and was later discharged.

The police have also recovered a semi automatic pistol and three live rounds of ammunition from him.A case under appropriate sections is being registered at Police Station Special Cell in this regard.(UNI)
