Delhi govt is committed to provide free metro rides to women: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Jun 27 : Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said that the Delhi government is committed to provide free metro rides to women.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Kejriwal said,'On our request, Del Metro has submitted its proposal. In principle, their proposal is agreeable to us. However, Delhi govt is studying its details. I repeat that, as announced, Delhi govt is committed to provide free metro rides to women'.
Earlier in the day, the Centre said it has not received any proposal from the Delhi government on free rides for women in Delhi Metro train.
In a written reply to a question of AITC member Saugata Roy in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri said, 'The Union Government has no proposal for free rides for women in Delhi Metro train.' (UNI)
