Nigerian living illegally arrested with Heroin worth lakhs in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 21: Delhi Police has arrested a Nigerian national for alleged drug peddling and recovered 50 grams of Heroin from his possession valued at around several lakh Rupees in the international market.

He was nabbed from Janakpuri near a DDA park where as per the police the Nigerian had come to deliver the drugs.

He was identified as 37 year old Chnemere Tony who was living illegally in the country since 2015 and did not possess any valid passport or Visa, said the police.

While he was spotted, the accused was informed that the team has specific information through reliable sources that he is in possession of drugs.

He was informed regarding legal aspects in this regard and his legal rights. Meanwhile, during enquiry, his name was revealed as Chnemere Tony who was a resident of Troyi Ave Enugu, Nigeria.

Thereby, Ishwar Singh, ACP Operations was also called at the spot and thereafter his search was conducted in the presence of ACP, in accordance with law.

During search, 50 grams of white colour granular substance was recovered from his possession. The recovered substance was tested at the spot with the help of testing kit and the same was found to be fine quality Heroin, which was sealed with due legal procedures.

Accordingly, a case under sections 21 of NDPS Act & 14 Foreigners Act was registered at Police Station Janak Puri.

Further questioning of the accused is in progress, the police said. (UNI)
