CISF restores gold ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lakh to its owner at Shastri Nagar Metro station

New Delhi, Nov 5: The Central Industrial Security Force has restored a bag containing gold ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lakh to the rightful owner at Shastri Nagar metro station, CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh told UNI on Monday.

According to CISF, on November 4 at around 1123 hrs, a CISF personnel at Shastri Nagar Metro station’s security checkpoint noticed an unattended ladies' purse lying on the output roller of the scanning machine.

He immediately informed the matter to his CISF shift in-charge and both rushed to the spot and asked nearby passengers but no one came forward to claim the purse.

The purse was checked from security point of view and CCTV observer was asked to review the CCTV footage.

After ascertaining that there was no dangerous or hazardous item inside the purse, it was opened in the presence of Station Controller and some cash and gold ornaments were found.

On reviewing the CCTV footage, it came to notice that a woman passenger had forgotten to collect her purse after putting the same for x-ray screening. The purse along with gold ornaments was deposited with the Station Controller.

After a while, a woman passenger named Tripti Khurana came at the security check point of Shastri Nagar Metro station and enquired about the purse. She revealed that she forgot to collect her purse containing gold ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lakh from output roller of scanning machine and boarded the Metro towards Dilshad Garden.

She further told CISF duty officials that when she reached at Pulbnagash Metro station, she realised her purse was missing and she came back to Shastri Nagar Metro station to retrieve it.

“Ms Khurana was brought to the Station Controller Room and after proper verification, the purse containing gold ornaments was restored to the lady passenger,” CISF said in a statement. (UNI)
