First COVID-19 case reported in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Mar 19 : Chhattisgarh which has so far remained safe zone with regards to COVID19 (Coronavirus) infection reported first positive case of Coronavirus as a young woman who returned from London tested positive.

The young woman is currently admitted to an isolation ward in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur. AIIMS officials said that the young woman recently returned from London along with her parents. The young woman’s parents too have been kept at AIIMS isolation ward. According to information available, the young woman is a resident of Raipur. She was admitted at AIIMS Raipur late Wednesday night. Her sample was collected on March 17 following deterioration of her health condition. The report of her sample came on March 18.

The entire family of the woman is being monitored by doctors at the isolated ward of AIIMS. Meanwhile according to a daily media bulletin released yesterday by the State Surveillance Unit under Health and Family Welfare Department of Chhattisgarh, total 114 samples were collected from suspected Coronavirus patients in Chattisgarh for Coronavirus testing. Of them 102 have tested negative while reports of 5 other samples are yet to be received. Remaining seven samples were rejected as they do not come under ICMR parameters for COVID-19 tests. (UNI)
