Raipur, Aug 12 : Thousands of students and citizens from as many as 35 social organisations set a world record here by unfurling a 15-km long tricolour by forming a human chain, ahead of 73rd Independence day, a statement issued by government public relations department said. Organised by 'Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam Foundation', the human chain was created from Amapara Chowk to Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University in the capital city.
The event entered the Champions Book of World Records (for the longest tricolour). In the valedictory ceremony, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel felicitated the families of soldiers who died in the battle, a statement said. On the occasion, former Chief Ministers Raman Singh and Ajit Jogi, Cabinet ministers, MLAs and other public representatives were present. "At the end of the programme, representatives of the Champions Book of World Records made the announcement of world record and handed over the certificate to the organiser," the statement added.UN
